The New Mexico Higher Education Department has proposed a budget with $25 million for health professional loan repayment & $5 million each for teacher repayment and adult education programs.

The plan will be discussed when the Legislature meets in January and builds support for roughly 400 professionals statewide.

The Santa Fe school district will court lawmakers to ask for support on teacher housing projects, increased school funding, and insurance changes in an effort to ease the local housing crisis.

The Santa Fe Land Use Department is partnering with the fire department to update building codes that will reduce wildfire risks.

Officials say the planned changes will be proposed soon to improve the city's fire resiliency.

NMDOT revived the Name a Snowplow contest (submissions are open until Friday, Dec.

26 at noon). Residents can enter one creative name up to 20 characters with entries avoiding vulgarity and political references.
