- ➤ On Monday, hundreds gathered—bringing together dancers from many Native nations—for the third annual Honoring Native Nations Powwow at Santa Fe Plaza, organized by the Santa Fe Indigenous Center. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ New Mexico Gas Company is offering relief to federal employees who are furloughed or working without pay during the government shutdown and will accept payment arrangements for residential service through mid-March unless the shutdown ends sooner. Federal employees must call NMGC or visit a walk-in office with proof of active employment to receive assistance. KOB 4
- ➤ Mayoral candidate Oscar Rodriguez used a hurtful racial slur at a Creative Santa Fe PechaKucha event on Oct. 7 and many Black Santa Feans demanded a public apology from him, the nonprofit, and the event sponsors—Rodriguez said he regretted the pain caused but maintained the full word was needed to tell his personal story. - ➤ The New Mexico Department of Transportation works with Greyhound to expand intercity bus service through Albuquerque, Bernalillo, Cuba, Farmington and into Durango — the new route connects with Navajo Transit and Red Apple Transit and will run five days a week with one round trip daily.
