  • The city of Santa Fe hired San Francisco-based nonprofit Urban Alchemy to launch a street outreach team that will provide services for homeless residents and run the Pete's Place shelter — the team will offer direct support and outreach to those in need.  Santa Fe New Mexican

HEALTH NEWS

  • A new report by the New Mexico Maternal Mortality Review Committee shows the state still has high maternal death rates with 28.0 deaths per 100,000 births in 2023 and over 80% of deaths from 2015 to 2020 were preventable. The report says that mental health issues, substance abuse, and discrimination hurt care for some women plus Indigenous women face higher risks while experts urge expanded Medicaid coverage for postpartum care.  Santa Fe Reporter
