A fire at Hotel Santa Fe on Thursday prompted the evacuation of 145 guests and led to treatment for eight people for smoke inhalation - firefighters controlled the blaze within 30-45 minutes while the fire marshal's office investigates the cause.

The council voted unanimously on Wednesday to approve the development agreement and ground lease with Midtown Arts and Design Alliance, moving forward with the visual arts center at the midtown campus.
