  • Residents can fish for free in public waters statewide this weekend as the Department of Game and Fish offers free fishing and hosts community events; the schedule includes Outdoor Adventure Day at Liam Knight Pond in Corrales from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., Route 66 Children’s Fishing Day at Monastery Lake in Pecos from 7 a.m. to noon, and Fish With a Cop at Young Park in Las Cruces from 8 a.m. to noon — anglers must follow state bag limits.  KOB 4

  • IAIA's leader said federal cuts will remove $13.5 million from the institute's roughly $17 million yearly operating budget—he warned that the measure breaks federal promises to Native people.  Santa Fe New Mexican

  • The city will begin a weeklong 'Pothole Palooza' on Monday — an annual event focused on repairing potholes that will run through Friday next week.  Santa Fe New Mexican
