CRIME NEWS

  • Inmates Dominic Rougemont, 26+Matthew Martinez, 21 face charges after they beat and stabbed a man at the state Penitentiary of New Mexico south of Santa Fe on Wednesday.  Santa Fe New Mexican

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • New Mexico officials will keep advancing electric vehicle plans despite Congress voting against added support. An Environment Department spokesperson said officials will work with partners to find ways to cut vehicle pollution (a move to improve air quality).  Santa Fe New Mexican

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The Department of Homeland Security released a list naming nearly every New Mexico county and cities such as Santa Fe and Albuquerque as jurisdictions allegedly obstructing federal immigration laws. Officials in counties including Otero and Lincoln have vowed to support federal efforts—local agencies must now review and revise their policies.  KOB 4
  • The city of Santa Fe plans to end its lease at the Interfaith Community Shelter used for homeless services and will request a one-year emergency contract with Urban Alchemy— a San Francisco-based nonprofit that hires formerly incarcerated people.  Santa Fe New Mexican
