City officials said talks about the Interfaith Community Shelter have been ongoing ahead of an upcoming council discussion, while shelter leaders reported being surprised by rumors of a planned ouster.

The council will address the shelter's future as discussions continue.

Two letters to the editor show local readers’ concerns as one writer said that a recent forest fire story overlooked decades of fuel reduction work while another urged local leaders to adopt a program to help homeless residents get IDs—improving access to housing, jobs, and care.

Both letters call on the community to recognize ongoing efforts and balance views on wildfire management and homelessness.

Freezie Fresh ice cream truck is returning to Santa Fe after a three-year break, with owner Xzavian Cookbey explaining he shifted from rolled to scooped ice cream to speed up service—he plans to park at 781 W Alameda Thursday-Sunday and extend hours to noon—8 p.m. starting June 1, while fans can follow updates on Instagram and his website.
