This Memorial Day, veteran banners will fly as the Santa Fe Heroes program returns for its third year, managed by the Santa María de La Paz Catholic Community Knights of Columbus (a local volunteer group).

The display honors veterans with a commemorative tribute.

The New Mexico Public Education Department is adding math lessons to its free summer reading program for K-8 students — over 150 schools are involved and more than 12,000 students have registered, with sign-ups still open.

This change follows strong reading gains since the program began in 2024.
