EDUCATION NEWS

  • A New Mexico judge ruled that the state still does not meet the Yazzie-Martinez education ruling, which requires proper support for Native students and English language learners— the ruling orders the Public Education Department to hire an outside expert to create a plan by July 1, with a draft by October and a final version by November.  KOB 4
  • Christine Griffin signed a one-year contract with Santa Fe Public Schools after a unanimous board vote + she will earn $205,000 annually. She brings leadership experience from an Arizona district to guide the school system.  Santa Fe New Mexican

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Santa Fe National Forest will enforce Stage 1 fire restrictions starting Sunday—heightened wildfire risks drive the decision to limit open fires, with the measures set to last through September 30.
