  • A Santa Fe youth was sentenced to 18 years in prison for incidents including curb-stomping and shooting, and the judge called him a 'poster boy for setting a bad example.'  Santa Fe New Mexican

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The governor pocket vetoed 17 bills this year — including one to create an indigenous language program in schools and one for wild horse reforms — so they will not become law.  Santa Fe New Mexican
  • Albuquerque’s mayor and police chief celebrated this weekend that a new law now lets DACA recipients and legal permanent residents join police, marshals, and sheriff forces. More than 51,000 New Mexicans can apply for officer roles—helping to address staffing shortages and expand diversity in law enforcement.  KOB 4
