Valdemar DeHerrera, a Bataan veteran who died in July, will be honored at the state’s annual commemoration—an event that pays tribute to his service and legacy.

The ceremony continues a long-held tradition to recognize New Mexicans who served in historic conflicts.

NMDOH reported on Tuesday that alcohol-related deaths dropped 23% between 2021 and 2024 during Alcohol Awareness Month, and it still warns residents of the risks linked to even moderate drinking (about two drinks for men, one for women).
