Plaza Roja, is a 3.5 mile moderately difficult loop hike through some of the most beautiful scenery in the Abiuque region of New Mexico. Altitude Gain: 370 ft ... Route type: Loop ... Dogs: Yes Check back the day of for any updates. The hike is generally easy, except for a very steep climb over a ridge near the start of the hike and some scrambling over boulders near the end.. If the soil is wet, we will find an alternate venue. The Santa Fe people will meet up at the Tesuque casino at 8:00 AM. The Los lamos People will meet us at Bodies in Abiuque at around 9:00 AM. If you want to meet at Bodies, please leave a message below. Drive Time is about One hour and twenty minutes each way, hike time two and a half to three and a half hours , lunch a half hour, for a total trip time of six to seven hours. Wear good hiking boots. Bring poles, hat, sunscreen, plenty of water and snacks. Dogs on leash are welcome. Release and Waiver . By attending, the Participant releases the Event Leaders from liability arising from the Event and assumes all risks of the Event, including: 1) injuries from falls, living things, pre-existing health conditions, vehicles, and weather, and 2) injuries resulting from the Event Leaders not undertaking the least risky option available (e.g., hiking a steep slope instead of a gentle slope) or not treating an injury in the optimal way (e.g., due to insufficient training). The preceding sentence supplements any other exculpatory arrangement to which the Participant is subject.
