Native Plant Society of New Mexico, Santa Fe, November meeting and Lecture

About this event

Dr. Josh Sloan, Director of Reforestation Operations at NM Highlands University, will give an overview of the New Mexico Reforestation Center (NMRC). NMRC, founded in 2022 by New Mexico Highlands University, New Mexico State University, the University of New Mexico, and the NM Energy, Minerals, and Natural Resources Department's Forestry Division, has a mission to meet the current and future reforestation needs of New Mexico and the greater Southwest. Its operations span the entire reforestation pipeline, including seed collection and banking, nursery production, planting, and monitoring, combined with reforestation research, education, and outreach to continuously improve knowledge, capacity, and outcomes. This talk will introduce the NMRC and its work, with an emphasis on NMHU's role leading tree seed collection, banking, and training in the Southwest.
